Creating mcs file

Mensaje por Pio » 22 Nov 2016, 14:43

Hi, I have just finished building a zxuno board it seems to be ok as I tried flashing the prom with just the test23 core and I see the initial screen waiting to load the BIOS.

However I cannot find the generamcs_multiboot_Q32.bat file in the repository, so cannot create the prom.mcs file. Can someone let me know where I can get this file? Thanks.

We deleted these files because we no longer support the mcs files. They were very problematic. The new method is:

Download the recovery.bit file from this thread: viewtopic.php?f=25&t=364
Download FLASH.ZX1 from official web: http://zxuno.speccy.org/descarga_e.shtml (first link called FLASH file)

Put the FLASH.ZX1 into the root of a FAT16/FAT32 formatted SD. Insert the SD into the ZX-Uno. Power the ZX-Uno with video and keyboard also connected. Connect the JTAG cable to the USB Xilinx platform cable, USB Blaster or Raspberry Pi. Send the recovery.bit bitstream to the ZX-Uno (with iMPact or urjtag). After that you'll see a screen similar to the BIOS upgrade option. Just press Enter and wait until the flashing process is done. It will take about 1 minute.

I understand you try to upgrade through the JTAG cable. If you have not soldered the flash chip and want to use an EEPROM programmer, just burn the FLASH.ZX1 file as binary file. But it's very important to active the QE fuse (QE=1) in the software of your EEPROM programmer.

Hi Antonio, thanks for the information. I could not get iMPACT to use the recovery.bit file so I used promgen to generate a recovery.mcs file, I have now flashed the FLASH.ZX1 and it is working!

Hello Antonio !

I made home a ZX-Uno v4.1.
I burned into w25q32f the FLASH.ZX1 with eeprom programmer (QE='1).

The ZX-Uno started with colored patterns with this texts:
"ZX-UNO Spectrum core is loaded.
Now trying to boot from BIOS...

You shouldn't see this screen
for more than half a second"

What's the problems ?

Hi gatora

Probably there is a false contact between FPGA and SRAM pins. Try to apply heat with the iron (without solder) to all the SRAM pins. After that try again. If doesn't work do the same with the FPGA pins (specially the the ones connected to the SRAM).

Hi Antonio !

It seems that every pins is good soldered and contacted between FPGA and SRAM.
And the BIOS not booting.

I don't know what the problem is.

If you see this screen is because the FPGA load the spectrum core correctly. So the only error must be something between FPGA and SRAM (or bad SRAM). How have you tested the pins are good soldered? Because when you use a tester probe the pressure applied to the pin must be enough to convert a false contact in a good contact.

You can confirm this by loading a .bit file with the production test. Do you have xilinx platform cable or USB blaster?

I have a Xilinx DLC9LP platform cable.
Loading a led blinking test program and working.

Have You a SRAM test program for ZX-UNO?
